Man shoots neighbor after dispute in San Tan Valley neighborhood

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office has released the mug shot of the man accused of shooting a neighbor after a dispute in a San Tan Valley neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Police arrived at a home near Saddle Way and Taylor Trail in San Tan Valley for reports of a shooting. 

Police say the incident began as a dispute between neighbors out on the street and ended with one man being shot. The man was sent to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The shooter remained on the scene. He has been identified as 64-year-old Gary Markensen.

In an update Wednesday morning, police say the victim remains at the hospital and is expected to survive.

Markensen has been booked into the Pinal County Jail. He faces one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.
